In a joint announcement, NPC President Froilan A. Tampinco and Clenergen Corporation CEO Mark LM Quinn agreed to pursue feasibility studies for the NPC's nominated areas -- Kabugao, Kalinga, Lubuagan, Apayao, Concepcion, Romblon, Corcuera, Romblon and Banton. NPC believes these areas have the best potential for developing competitive renewable sources of electricity.

Clenergen Corporation, a publicly held US company (CRGE) have developed a programme to produce high-density, short-rotation biomass crops on a commercial scale to provide sustainable supplies of clean energy to regional, independent clients and national grids.

National Power Corporation, is the Philippine government's mandated state agency to develop off-grid small island power systems using non-conventional electricity systems.

Mark Quinn, CEO of Clenergen Corporation, commented, "Clenergen Corporation will dedicate itself to install Distributed Environmental Power Systems or DEPS in the Philippines. The biomass power plants will range in size from 0.5 to 8 MW and will be located in areas suitable to cultivate dedicated biomass feedstocks.
